Luke 22:28 NKJV
“But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials.

OUR PRAYER!

Lord, as our Father in heaven, hear our cries for your leadership, guidance, and knowledge, so we might demonstrate a reliable description of your glory. Bring us through all the trials and tribulations Satan may place as roadblocks of the truth. Fill us with your words describing the power of your love, which will lead to your grace and forgiveness and salvation at the beginning of our actual journey as your servants. Father, deepen our fervor for your presence, share with us the spirit to advance into all the areas needing your light and words of truth to be divided. Brighten our zeal, so we like you will have those who walk in darkness and sin join us as we dine at your table. We pray this in your name Yeshua, and all of God’s children say Amen and Amen.

COMMENTARY!

How unbecoming is the worldly ambition of being the greatest, to the character of a follower of Jesus, who took upon him the form of a servant, and humbled himself to the death of the cross!

On the way to eternal happiness, we must expect to be assaulted and sifted by Satan. If he cannot destroy us, he will try to disgrace or distress us. Nothing more certainly forebodes a fall, in a professed follower of Christ, than self-confidence, with disregard to warnings, and contempt of danger.

Observe the end proposed: rest spiritual and eternal; the rest of grace here, and glory hereafter; in Christ on earth, with Christ in heaven. After due and diligent labour, sweet and satisfying rest shall follow; and labour now will make that rest more pleasant when it comes. Let us labour and quicken each other to be diligent in duty.

The Holy Scriptures are the word of God. When God sets it home by his Spirit, it convinces powerfully, converts powerfully, and comforts powerfully. It makes a soul that has long been proud, to be humble; and a perverse spirit, to be meek and obedient.

Sinful habits that are become as it were natural to the soul, and rooted deeply in it, are separated and cut off by this sword. It will reveal to men their thoughts and purposes, the vileness of many, the bad principles they are moved by, the sinful ends they act to. The word will show the sinner all that is in his heart. Let us hold fast the doctrines of Christian faith in our heads, its enlivening principles in our hearts, the open profession of it in our lips, and be subject to it in our lives.

Though God cannot lose by the quarrel, nor gain by the peace, yet he beseeches sinners to lay aside their enmity and accept the salvation he offers. Christ knew no sin. He was made Sin; not a sinner, but Sin, a Sin-offering, a Sacrifice for sin. The end and design of all this was that we might be made the righteousness of God in him, might be justified freely by the grace of God through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus. Can any lose, labor, or suffer too much for Him, who gave his beloved Son to be the Sacrifice for their sins, that they might be made the righteousness of God in him?
