For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

OUR PRAYER

Our prayer today, May 27th, 2023, is taken from  2 Peter 1:1-4 to reveal these exhortations. Heavenly Father may Grace and peace be multiplied unto your children through the knowledge of God, and Yeshua our Lord.  According to your divine power you have given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. Whereby is given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these we might be partakers of your divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. This we pray in the name of Yeshua and all of God’s children say Amen and Amen.

COMMENTARY!

By patience and fortitude in suffering, by dependence on the promises of God, and keeping to the word the Holy Spirit hath revealed, the Holy Spirit is glorified; but by the contempt and reproaches cast upon believers, he is evil spoken of, and is blasphemed. One would think such cautions as these were needless to Christians. But their enemies falsely charged them with foul crimes. And even the best of men need to be warned against the worst of sins. There is no comfort in sufferings, when we bring them upon ourselves by our own sin and folly. A time of universal calamity was at hand, as foretold by our Saviour, Matthew 24:9, Matthew 24:10. And if such things befall in this life, how awful will the day of judgment be! It is true that the righteous are scarcely saved; even those who endeavour to walk uprightly in the ways of God. This does not mean that the purpose and performance of God are uncertain, but only the great difficulties and hard encounters in the way; that they go through so many temptations and tribulations, so many fightings without and fears within. Yet all outward difficulties would be as nothing, were it not for lusts and corruptions within. These are the worst clogs and troubles. And if the way of the righteous be so hard, then how hard shall be the end of the ungodly sinner, who walks in sin with delight, and thinks the righteous is a fool for all his pains! The only way to keep the soul well, is, to commit it to God by prayer, and patient perseverance in well-doing. He will overrule all to the final advantage of the believer.

God is Lord of hosts, has every creature at his command, and, when he pleases, can humble and mortify a proud, rebellious people by the weakest and most contemptible creatures. It is just with God to take away the comforts which are abused to luxury and excess; and the more men place their happiness in the gratifications of sense, the more severe temporal afflictions are upon them. The earthlier delights we make needful to satisfy us, the more we expose ourselves to trouble.

The following is for Yeshua’s brethren receiving his teachings through the Holy Spirit. I am relating commentary from the KJV bible authors unknown. We will hear the Apostle Paul’s instructions in Romans 14:19-23 Many are wishing for peace, and talk loudly for it, who do not follow the things that make for peace. Meekness, humility, self-denial, and love make for peace. We cannot edify one another while quarreling and contending. Many for meat and drink, destroy the work of God in themselves.

Nothing more destroys the soul than pampering and pleasing the flesh and fulfilling the lusts of it. So, others are hurt, by wilful offense given. Lawful things may be done unlawfully by offending brethren. Taking in all indifferent things, whereby a brother is drawn into sin or trouble; or have his graces, his comforts, or his resolutions weakened. Hast thou faith? It is meant of knowledge and clearness as to a Believer’s liberty. Enjoy the comfort of it, but do not trouble others by illegal use of it.

Yeshua invites all to come to him for rest to their souls. He alone gives this invitation; men come to him, when, feeling their guilt and misery, and believing his love and power to help, they seek him in fervent prayer. Thus it is the duty and interest of weary and heavy-laden sinners, to come to Yeshua (Jesus Christ). This is the gospel call; Whoever will let him come. All who thus come will receive rest as Yeshua’s gift and obtain peace and comfort in their hearts.
However, worldly men burden themselves with fruitless cares for wealth and honours; the gay and the sensual labour in pursuit of pleasures; the slave of Satan and his own lusts, is the merest drudge on earth. Those who labour to establish their own righteousness also labour in vain. The convinced sinner is heavy-laden with guilt and terror, and the tempted and afflicted believer has labours and burdens.
