The prophet reads the doom of all proud and oppressive powers that bear hard upon God’s people. The lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life, are the entangling snares of men; and we … Continue reading →
“For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. v.14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.“
PRE-AMBLE by Robert.
In the last Article “GOD SAID WHAT IS THIS THOU HAST DONE?” It showed the importance of working out our Salvation and reconnecting with God. In this article we find the Holy Spirit teaching the importance of continued personal growth in our Salvation but points out, for it to show any value in God’s eyes, it must be shared. We must not let our flesh tempt us to become slack or overconfident in our walk. The previous article revealed the importance of reconnecting and obtaining God’s light as “Modern Day Disciples.” and reflecting it into the darkness of the world.
Adam Clarke (1760 – 1832) comments on the work God puts into our soul to demonstrate our obedience to His calling which sets the tone for this article. “Ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh – If the Spirit of God dwells in and rules your heart, the whole carnal mind will be destroyed; and then, not only carnal ordinances will be abandoned, but also the works and propensities of the flesh.”
Matthew Henry’s (1662 -1774) comments advocate Adam Clarke’s comments on Galatians 5 and reveal’s the depth and what must never go missing for us to function in the Spirit demonstrating our obedience to God’s calling. “Grace includes God’s good-will towards us, and his good work upon us; and peace, all that inward comfort, or outward prosperity, which is really needful for us. They come from God the Father, as the Fountain, through Yeshua. But observe, first grace, and then peace; there can be no true peace without grace. Yeshua gave himself for our sins, to make atonement for us: this the justice of God required, and to this, he freely submitted.“
OPENING PRAYER by Robert
Heavenly Father I want to thank you for showing us the real depth of our faith. I petition you, Father, for wisdom to be upon all those reading this article deepen their discernment and understanding. Bring unto them a spirit of calm that any decision they are about to make in respect to a spiritual walk with you Lord would be an informed one void of emotions and worldly desires. I ask Lord that you would guardedly open their minds to receive all information the Holy Spirit will reveal as the foundation for their future decisions. Father bring them the knowledge of the gifts of Heaven. And how to obtain the fruits of everlasting life. I pray this in your name in the name of Yeshua AMEN and AMEN.
OPENING STATEMENT by Robert
If we care to act under the guidance and power of the blessed Spirit, though we may not be freed from the stirrings and oppositions of the corrupt nature which remains in us, it shall not have dominion over us. Believers are engaged in a conflict, in which they earnestly desire that grace may obtain full and speedy victory. And those who want this to give themselves up to be led by the Holy Spirit, are not under the law as a covenant of works, nor exposed to its awful curse. Their hatred of sin, and desires after holiness show that they have a part in the salvation of the gospel. The works of the flesh are many and manifest. And these sins will shut men out of heaven. Yet, what numbers, calling themselves believers, live in these, and say they hope for heaven!
The fruits of the Spirit, or of the renewed nature, which we are to do, are named. And as the apostle had chiefly called works of the flesh, not only hurtful to men themselves, but tend to make them so to one another, so here he primarily notices the fruits of the Spirit, which are typical to make believers agreeable one to another, as well as to make them happy. The fruits of the Spirit plainly show that such are led by the Spirit. By describing the works of the flesh and fruits of the Spirit, we are told what to avoid and oppose, and what we are to cherish and cultivate; and this is the sincere care and endeavour of all real Believers walking as Modern Day Disciples. Matthew Henry (1662 -1774) relates to Modern Day Disciples who it is we are going to confront and what appears to them as an appealing walk through life.
Many excuse themselves from the work of religion, though they may make a show, and profess it. Imposing upon others, yet they deceive themselves if they think to impose upon God, who knows their hearts as well as actions; and as he cannot be deceived, so he will not be mocked. Our present time is seed time; in the other world, we shall reap as we sow now. As there are two sorts of sowing, one to the flesh, and the other to the Spirit, so will the reckoning be hereafter. Those who live a carnal, sensual life, must expect no other fruit from such a course than misery and ruin. But those who, under the guidance and influences of the Holy Spirit, live a life of faith in Yeshua, and abound in Believer’s graces, shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. We are all very apt to tire on duty, particularly in doing good. We should carefully watch and guard against it. Only perseverance in well-doing is the reward promised. Here is an appeal to all to do good in their places. We should take care to do good in our lifetime, and make this the business of our lives. Especially when fresh occasions offer, and as far as our power reaches.
Adam Clarke’s Commentary on Galatians 5:19 -21 describes what we as Modern Day Disciples will face when encountering Satan’s prisoners. As well, we must ascertain, just how quickly we could fall victim to the temptations, Matthew Henry eluded to if we let our guard down. The Holy Spirit is going to lead us to these prisoners so we might demonstrate through our actions and examples within our walk how God’s love and compassion will open the door to eternal life with Him.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest. By flesh, we are to understand the evil and fallen state of the soul. No longer under the guidance of God’s Spirit and right reason. But under the animal passions; and they are even rendered more irregular and turbulent by the influence of sin. So that man is in a worse state than the brute. And so all-commanding is this evil nature that it leads men to all kinds of crimes. And among them the following, which are manifest – known to all, and most prevalent; and, though your law most solemnly forbids these, the observance of its ordinances gives no power to overcome them and provides no pardon for the guilt and condemnation produced by them.
Adultery – Μοιχεια· Illicit connection with a married person. This word is wanting in this place in the best MSS., versions, and fathers; the next term often comprehending both.
Fornication – Πορνεια· Illicit connection between single or unmarried persons; yet often signifying adultery also.
Uncleanness – Ακαθαπσια· Whatever is opposite to purity; probably meaning here, as in Romans 1:24; 2 Corinthians 12:21, unnatural practices; sodomy, bestiality.
Lasciviousness – Ασελγεια· Whatever is contrary to chastity; all lewdness. Verse 20Idolatry – Worshipping of idols; frequenting idol festivals; all the rites of Bacchus, Venus, Priapus, etc., which were common among the Gentiles.
Witchcraft – Φαρμακεια, from φαρμακον a drug or poison; because in all spells and enchantments, whether true or false, drugs were employed. As a drug, φαρμακον, might either be the means of removing evil, or inflicting one, etymologists have derived it from φερον ακος, bringing ease, or φερον αχος, producing pain. So spells and incantations were sometimes used for the restoration of the health; at others, for the destruction of an enemy. Sometimes, these φαρμακα were used to procure love; at other times, to produce hatred.
Hatred – Εχθραι· Aversions and antipathies, when opposed to brotherly love and kindness.Variance – Ερεις· Contentions, where the principle of hate proceeds to open acts; hence contests, altercations, lawsuits, and disputes in general.Emulations – Ζηλοι· Envies or emulations; that is strife to excel at the expense of another; lowering others to set up one’s self; unholy zeal, fervently adopting a wrong cause, or supporting a good one by cruel means. Inquisitions, pretending to help true religion by torturing and burning alive those who both profess and practice it.
Wrath – Θυμοι· Turbulent passions, disturbing the harmony of the mind, and producing domestic and civil broils and disquietudes.
Strife – Επιθειαι· Disputations, janglings, logomachics, or strife about words. Seditions – Διχοστασιαι· Divisions into separate factions; parties, whether in the Church or state. Heresies – Αἱρεσεις· Factions; parties in the Church separating from communion with each other, and setting up altar against altar. The word, which is harmless in itself, is here used in a wicked sense. Insteadof αἱρεσεις, the Slavonic has σκανδαλα, scandals, offences or stumbling-blocks.
Verse 21
Envyings – Φθονοι· “Pain felt, and malignity conceived, at the sight of excellence or happiness.” A passion the most base and the least curable of all that disgrace or degrade the fallen soul. See on Romans 13:13.
Murders – Φονοι· Similarity of sound to the preceding seems to have suggested the word in this association; it wants in several MSS. Murder signifies the destruction of human life; and as he who hates his brother in his heart is ready to take away his life, so he is called a murderer. After all the casuistry of man, it does not appear that the right of taking away a human life on any pretense, except for the crime of murder belongs to any but the Maker and Judge of all men.
Drunkenness – Μεθαι· Taking more wine or any inebriating liquor than is necessary for health; whatever unfit for public, domestic, or spiritual duties; even the cares of the world, when they intoxicate the mind. See on Romans 13:13. Revellings – Κωμοι· Lascivious feastings, with obscene songs, music, etc. See on Romans 13:13.
And such like – Και τα ὁμοια τουτοις· All that proceeds from the evil passions of a fallen spirit, besides those above specified; and all that the law of God specifies and condemns. Of the which I tell you before – When I first preached the Gospel to you. As I had also told you in time past – When I paid my second visit to you; for the apostle did visit them twice. See Acts 16:6; Acts 18:23.Shall not inherit – They are not children of God, and therefore cannot inherit the kingdom which belongs only to the children of the Divine family. Now that we have knowledge of what it is we are actually confronting.
Adam Clarke describes the fruits of the Holy Spirit and the overall effect they will have in our lives as Modern Day Disciples when used as part of our demonstrated walk.
But the fruit of the Spirit – Both flesh – the sinful dispositions of the human heart and spirit – the changed or purified state of the soul, by the grace and Spirit of God, are represented by the apostle as trees, one yielding good the other bad fruit; the productions of each being according to the nature of the tree, as the tree is according to the nature of the seed from which it sprung. The bad seed produced a bad tree, yielding all manner of evil fruit; the excellent seed produced a good tree, bringing forth fruits of the most outstanding kind. The tree of the flesh, with all its evil fruits, we have already seen; the tree of the Spirit, with its excellent fruits, we shall now see.
Love – Αγαπη· An intense desire to please God, and to do good to mankind; the very soul and spirit of all true religion; the fulfilling of the law, and what gives energy to faith itself. See Galatians 5:6.
Joy – Χαρα· The exultation that arises from a sense of God’s mercy communicated to the soul in the pardon of its iniquities, and the prospect of that eternal glory of which it has the foretaste in the forgiveness of sin. See Romans 5:2..Peace – Ειρηνη· The calm, quiet, and order, which take place in the justified soul, instead of the doubts, fears, alarms, and dreadful forebodings, which every true penitent less or more feels, and must feel till the assurance of pardon brings peace and satisfaction to the mind. Peace is the first sensible fruit of the forgiveness of sin. See Romans 5:1.
Long-suffering – Μακροθυμια· Long-mindedness, bearing with the frailties and provocations of others, from the consideration that God has borne long with ours; and that, if he had not, we should have been speedily consumed: bearing up also through all the troubles and difficulties of life without murmuring or repining; submitting cheerfully to every dispensation of God’s providence, and thus deriving benefit from every occurrence.
Gentleness – Χρηστοτης· Benignity, affability; a very rare grace, often wanting in many who have a considerable share of Christian excellence. Good education and polished manners, when brought under the influence of the grace of God, will bring out this grace with great effect.
Goodness – Αγαθωσυνη· The perpetual desire and sincere study, not only to abstain from every appearance of evil but to do good to the bodies and souls of men to the utmost of our ability. But all this must spring from a good heart – a heart purified by the Spirit of God; and then, the tree is made good, the fruit must be good also.
Faith – Πιστις, here used for fidelity – punctuality in performing promises, conscientious carefulness in preserving what is committed to our trust, in restoring it to its proper owner, in transacting the business confided to us, neither betraying the secret of our friend nor disappointing the confidence of our employer.
Verse 23
Meekness – Πραοτης· Mildness, indulgence toward the weak and erring, a patient suffering from injuries without feeling a spirit of revenge, an even balance of all tempers and passions, the complete opposite to anger.
Temperance – Εγκρατεια· Continence, self-government, or moderation, principally concerning sensual or animal appetites. Moderation in eating, drinking, sleeping, etc. Several very respectable MSS., as D*EFG, with the Vulgate, most copies of the Itala and several of the fathers, add ἁγνεια, chastity. This we are sure cannot be separated from the genuine Christian character, though it may be included in the word εγκρατεια, continence or moderation, immediately preceding.
Against such there is no law – Those, whose lives are adorned by the above virtues, cannot be condemned by any law, for the whole purpose and design of the moral law of God is fulfilled in those who have the Spirit of God, producing in their hearts and lives the preceding fruits.
The gospel is a doctrine according to godliness, 1 Timothy 6:3, and is so far from giving the least countenance to sin, that it lays us under the strongest obligation to avoid and subdue it.
Matthew Henry (1662 – 1774) explains “The apostle urges that all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. If believers, who should help one another, and rejoice one another, quarrel, what can be expected but that the God of love should deny his grace, that the Spirit of love should depart, and the evil spirit, who seeks their destruction, should prevail? Happy would it be, if Believers, instead of biting and devouring one another on account of different opinions, would set themselves against sin in themselves, and in the places where they live and worship?
Believers are not to suppose that religious knowledge, or Christian privileges, gave them any right to despise unbelievers, or to disobey lawful commands, or to expose their faults to others. And such as enjoyed the privilege of living with believers, were not to withhold due respect and reverence, because they were equal in respect to religious privileges but were to serve with double diligence and cheerfulness, because of their faith in Yeshua, and as partakers of his free salvation. We are not to consent to any words as wholesome, except the words of our Lord Yeshua; to these, we must give unfeigned consent.
Matthew Henry (1662- 1774) continues “Commonly those are most proud who know least; for they do not know themselves. Hence come envy, strife, railings, evil-surmisings, disputes that are all subtlety, and of no solidity, between men of corrupt and carnal minds, ignorant of the truth and its sanctifying power, and seeking their worldly advantage.”
Thus we’re shown who and what we are being presented and in that knowledge recognize the Holy Spirit is with us and to use demonstrations and examples as the Spirit is not there for them, to decipher spoken truths.
CLOSING PRAYER by Robert
Heavenly Father, hear our cries for your instruction and heavenly gifts to prepare us to be compelling examples of your love and compassion. Bring unto us a clear mind and vision to see the seeds of temptations standing before these prisoners of Satan. That we will use your sword of truth to sever all the bindings from them. Give us the strength and knowledge to demonstrate your truth as a light for them to find your path to eternal life and peace. We pray this in your name Yeshua. Amen and Amen.
CLOSING COMMENTS by Robert Isn’t our Lord a fantastic leader who brings us all we need to recognize who and what we are about to be confronted with and how to deal with it effectively. As I ponder how Yeshua took the time from the multitudes to deal with just one person I begin to recognize the significance of grace. We have been shown how our enemy has and is stealing Grace from the worldly churches. I am closing with Matthew Henry’s (1662- 1774) comments “Those that make a trade of Christianity to serve their turn for this world will be disappointed; but those who mind it as their calling will find it has the promise of the life that now is, as well as of that which is to come. He that is godly is sure to be happy in another world; and if contented with his condition in this world, he has enough; and all truly godly people are content.“
This parable was to convince some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others. God sees with what disposition and design we come to him in holy ordinances.
What the Pharisee said, shows that he trusted to himself that he was righteous. We may suppose he was free from gross and scandalous sins. All this was very well and commendable. Miserable is the condition of those who come short of the righteousness of this Pharisee, yet he was not accepted; and why not? He went up to the temple to pray, but was full of himself and his own goodness; the favour and grace of God he did not think worth asking.
Let us beware of presenting proud devotions to the Lord, and of despising others. The publican’s address to God was full of humility, and of repentance for sin, and desire toward God. His prayer was short, but to the purpose; God be merciful to me a sinner.
Blessed be God, that we have this short prayer upon record, as an answered prayer; and that we are sure that he who prayed it, went to his house justified; for so shall we be, if we pray it, as he did, through Jesus Christ. He owned himself a sinner by nature, by practice, guilty before God. He had no dependence but upon the mercy of God; upon that alone, he relied. And God’s glory is to resist the proud and give grace to the humble. Justification is of God in Christ; therefore the self-condemned, and not the self-righteous, are justified before God.
Please remember these are the words of a humble servant doing the bidding of our Father. I would ask if you are being blessed by these articles pass them on to as many others as possible so they may be blessed and share their blessings as well.
The Lord touched me through the Holy Spirit to serve as a Watchman to hear His warnings and disperse them among His flock. My acceptance of this responsibility was not taken without a great amount of prayer and meditation.
I recognized that along with this request was attached, the mantle of a shepherd, if I acknowledged the one I was also taking the responsibilities of guiding those who would hear or read my offerings and warnings as given.
I did not take this decision lightly, as it meant not only was I responsible for my walk with Yeshua, now I was taking on the responsibility of correctly guiding those who would heed those warnings and make the changes to draw closer to Yeshua in preparation for Eternity. I researched the Scriptures prayed and meditated for months before I made my final decision.
OPENING STATEMENT by Robert
As an example of how the Lord works I was under His thumb to stop procrastinating, I realized The Lord was not forcing me His action was for me to understand, that, with the Holy Spirit I would overcome my anxiety and appreciate the guidance and discernment being offered to move forward.
The Holy Spirit showed the warnings would not be a cause of the Lord’s flock making a mistake or potentially causing them to stumble. The Holy Spirit revealed I needed to let my faith guide me in recognizing and understanding it will be the Holy Spirit communicating directly and teaching me how to discern. My sole responsibility would be to disseminate the messages as received and let the Lord’s children determine what their actions would be from there.
The writings are warnings given to me through the Holy Spirit for evaluation of your position in your life’s journey by gathering as much information and detail about your personal walk with Yeshua in preparation for Eternity as possible. I pray you will then make the corrections necessary to draw closer to Yeshua in this preparation for your time in Eternity.
The title of this article “WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE”, I believe came about through a message revealed several weeks ago: “a multitude of God’s children remain within a rebellious house and know not what they are doing or why.” The Holy Spirit revealed that multitudes believed they are walking with Yeshua, however, showed they are in a delusion and have given over to a false spirit and have set aside the warnings, musings, and most importantly discernment.“
Strangely, “WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE” is I believe how the Holy Spirit is defining his presence and workings with us so we can achieve our final goal of being prepared and understanding what our time in Eternity could or will hold for us.
I firmly believe the latter part of my earlier statement is one of many purposes of our being here the main being reconnecting with God through Yeshua. As well as preparing for Eternity while storing up gifts in heaven, which will be with us in and for Eternity. The Lord instructed us in Matt: 6:20 “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.”
CLOSING STATEMENT by Robert
In a conversation, with my youngest son, Blair the subject about the afterlife came up. Like many Blair is a hard-working young man (44) who sees his life and achievements as most by what he possesses Luke 12:15. Our Lord said: “Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”
I wanted to let Blair know how he was missing the essence of what our true calling in life is and asked him if he understood what Eternity was and what he would possibly miss out on if he continued on his current path. I pointed out that he was like so many who become busy and caught up in the worldly cycle of our existence, as well as the importance of our appearance to our peers.
I wanted to demonstrate how this causes many ultimately to turn off the guidanceof the Holy Spirit and set aside his promptings and urgings. I described how we become spellboundof what the world will and does provide if we become willing to work for it and the eventual consequences.
Luke 12:19-21 v19:And will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast many goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. v20: But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those be, which thou hast provided? v:21: So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
I wanted to show Blair how humanity has lost sight of being created in the image of God (Spirit) Gen. 1:27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created him; male and female created He them. And as that spirit, we inherited an immortal life but not as a god. To those who believe they have evolved and choose not to believe in their endless existence as a spirit, this publication I pray will challenge your soul (Mind, Will, and Emotions).
Our conversation swung as Blair asked what would the treasures be? How do I distinguish them? Where would I find them? It was here that I explained as humanswere made up of three parts theSpirit, Soul, and Bodyeach having a distinct function.
TheSpiritgives useternal lifetheSoulprovides uspurpose and reason to livebecause it operates through the mind, will, and emotions, which separates us from the animals. The Body houses the Spirit and Soul which is why many believe they are one and the same, they are not.
When we look at Genesis 1:27 we recognize that the immortality of the human spirit is revealed. Whereas in Genesis 2:7 we see the Lord breathed into Adams’ nostrils the breath of life which identified him as a living physical being having a soul or in other words the ability to reason, feel, and respond to his surroundings.
Thus, we have the separation of the two, Spirit and Soul. I explained to Blair the action of God separating the Spirit and Souleliminates or denies the possibility of [theistic] evolution (the soul being breathed into a living animal form).
Now to emphasize my point about immortality I asked Blair to picture what he saw as Eternity and with a stunning look, he declared it never ends. I then asked if he could relate being a spirit which like Eternity never ends and on passing from this life as a spirit was he ready for Eternity.
Blair’s reply was“Dad,” “please don’t try to convert me I have my way of believing and have since I was young.”I assured himI was not attempting to convert him into any religious belief; I was merely informing him about Eternity and about being an immortal spirit within it. Matt;7:13-14
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: v:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Wanting to illustrate a point I asked Blair to compare this life to what he saw as Eternity he said it was a drop in the ocean. I pointed out as a spirit housed in a body destined to perish, and as such we only have that amount of time to prepare for our time in Eternity James 4:14:Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
CLOSING STATEMENT by Robert
If you relate to my earlier statement, our purpose is to draw closer to Yeshua in preparation for our time in Eternity with Him and the Father. So now knowing the meaning behind our walk, it’s time for me to answer Blair’s questions.
It’s the Soul that allows us to make our connection with the Holy Spirit where we find the treasures through the teachings he brings. It is through our Mind; we recognize and discernhis messages as gifts and treasures from God.
We must use our Will to learn how to discern and interpret them and finally our Emotions to understand they are a part of our present and future walk with Yeshua and what we need to do with them drawing us closer to Yeshua now and finally as permanent treasures in Eternity.
It is here we can distinguish the importance of having the Holy Spirit in our lives as a teacher showing us how to interpret God’s messages. But more importantly, knowing each word is directly from God, brought to us, through the Holy Spirit. Guiding us to the treasures within those messages.
Which once recognized to be utilized and practiced in this lifetime but ultimately stored in heaven for our use in Eternity. Matt. 6:21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
If you recall, I stated earlier what I believe our purpose in this lifetime is about preparing for Eternity by reconnecting with the Father by “gathering as much information and detail about your personal walk with His Son Yeshua.”
I brought this conversation to a point by asking Blair if he was prepared for Eternity, and stated that if not then think about what lay ahead for him.
Now that he was provided with information that didn’t judge or evangelize him, perhaps he should analyze his position. I asked him to picture being without treasures for an Eternity and how he felt about that.
His reply now knowing his spirit was going to live forever and not being prepared would seem like Hell. Knowing and understanding that unless Blair took the time to learn discern and interpret and failed to store the treasures for Eternity would be everlasting punishment.
Blair’s final question was so what is my next step? I reminded him that I was a messenger and servant of Yeshua, who was warning but would help him to become acquainted with the Holy Spirit, who would teach him how to draw closer to the Father and prepare for Eternity.
My thoughts and prayers are with all those who can identify and relate to Blair’s position with Eternity. I just hope and pray you will find something in this warning which will tweak your Soul to investigate further into preparing for Eternity.
For those who don’t understand how to hear the Holy Spirit, it begins with your conscience speaking to you about right and wrong.
For those following the Evolution teachings, please understand, there are choices, but what if your choice is wrong. My position is such even if I’m wrong I still have my knowledge with me. I will leave you all with this final thought “We are told that we come into this world with nothing and will leave it the same way. If you are speaking about material your right.”
“But I’m going to go out with my Soul filled with every gift God has seen fit to send me through the Holy Spirit, who gives me power and knowledge.” As for Blair, he is my son, and his situation is as described in this article, now searching for more treasure to place in Heaven.
CLOSING PRAYER by Robert
Hear our praises Heavenly Father being set before your throne as our sacrifices to you as humble servants. We thank you, Lord, first for our newborn lives in the Spirit. Thank you, Father, for the spirit to hear your words through the Holy Spirit. Praise and honour from our new hearts go out to you Lord for giving us this opportunity through your unselfish sacrifice. We say thank you, as we pray in your name Yeshua, Amen and, Amen.
Remember, these messages are given by a humble servant obedient to our Lord Yeshua as a “Watchman.”This, I pray for all. ”Our Heavenly Father brings us to the river which bringeth forth fruit so we may partake of its sustenance and be filled spiritually with nurturingwisdom, and humble dedication in service to Yeshua.“ “Blessings to All.” As you go forward in peace, knowledge, and strength. In the name of Yeshua, we pray Amen and Amen.
PRE-AMBLE by Robert We have witnessed through the Scriptures and testimonies of the Apostles the resurrection and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and now the working of the Holy Spirit following Pentecost of Peter’s sermon where 3000 were converted. Here and now the enemy is already at work bringing forward material which is worldly candy to the human mind and flesh acting as a distraction for many. I wrote the following article in January 2017 and now believe it is most appropriate to describe how Satan will attempt to distract those who have the word and are about to receive the word. https://romboughrobert.wordpress.com/2017/07/19/the-ultimate-distraction-is-it-worth-it/ We have witnessed the truth in action how God used evil to complete his plan of bringing Salvation into the world through the wrongful crucifixion of his son Yeshua. We are now about to see how wickedness will attempt to stop God’s army of modern day disciples from spreading the truth with distractions, lies and even in some cases physical violence. To preface this statement, I went to Romans 1:21-23 citing Paul’s warning and am quoting commentary from Matthew Henry (1662-1774) v.21 Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. v.22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools V.23 and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Matthew Henry (1662-1774) What discoveries they had: That which may be known of God is manifest, en autois–among them, that is, there were some even among them that had the knowledge of God, were convinced of the existence of one supreme Numen. The philosophy of Pythagoras, Plato, and the Stoics, discovered a great deal of the knowledge of God, as appears by an abundance of testimonies. That which may be known, which implies that there is a great deal which may not be known. This is a warning for those who might think they are enhancing their personal knowledge seeking information from a movement known as Gaia which if you preview their movement will realize it falls right into these scriptures and commentary. However, we have a free will to choose our path to eternity, but sometimes there are temptations which will cause us to deviate from our path, by what I call “brain candy.” Which are distractions and are described in the above scripture and commentary. Make your choices wisely as they will affect your eternity and which path you will follow. Remember Satan uses our curiosity to cause us to stumble. I’m placing a huge sign saying major sinkhole ahead take care. Your choice to heed or go around and proceed note you have been warned. The Trumpet has sounded “Amen.” I say to all, Joel’s warning is a genuine warning for us today and is being put in place by Satan’s minions who are appearing as worldly wise individuals. Bringing you mundane questions and false teachings to fill your minds with gratifying bits of information. Sort of like an appetizer teasing you into desiring more worldly wonders and knowledge. Ultimately drawing you away from God’s truth, love and protection, you need to ask is it worth it? In the book of Joel “The prophet Joel” describes how an attack will take place. First as a palmerworm, then locust then cankerworm and finally the caterpillar. Each will destroy what the first had left behind. He says For a nation is come up upon my land, strong and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.
But in reality, what he was warning about was a human invasion. Followers of Yeshua we are in a spiritual war which has actively manifested into a physical conflict. I am here asking all who read this to note what occurred in Europe in 2015 the mass invasion of so-called immigrants Joel predicted, no one heeded and they were eagerly welcomed by nieve citizens.
We are seeing the results now of how Europe is being devastated, their culture and identity being destroyed internally. These were the palmerworm. Individual countries have lost control of their government and police forces.
There is more devastation to come as the next wave is to appear from within and destroy the infrastructure of these countries through changing the laws by which each country is governed by.
The enemy knows he cannot continue this influx to the western continent, so they are conducting a different buildup in Canada through its deluded leader Justin Trudeau is seen here in a mosque praying to Allah as a Muslim.
What does this have to do with our spiritual journey forward? Are God’s people not protected as we proceed in our missions? Yes, we are if we remain walking within God’s laws and draw closer to Yeshua and his teachings through the Holy Spirit. What I am warning about has two sides to it first the enemy is going to distract then destroy the lifestyle many have become accustomed too. If you recall Joel warned us in Joel 1:8-13 Matthew Henry commented as follows: All who labor for the meat which perishes, will, sooner or later, be ashamed of their labor. Those that place their happiness in the delights of sense, when deprived of them, or disturbed in the enjoyment, lose their joy. Whereas spiritual pleasure then flourishes more than ever. See what perishing, uncertain things our creature-comforts are. See how we need to live in continued dependence upon God and his providence. See what ruinous work sin makes. As far as poverty occasions the decay of deity of piety, and starves the cause of religion among people, it is a very severe judgment. But how blessed are the awakening judgments of God, in rousing his people and calling home the heart to Yeshua, and his salvation? “The other is a warning to all who walk in peace not to become complacent in that walk as we are being shown severe turmoil and in some cases, destruction just lies ahead without warning, so we need to be aware and prepared for it. The “Trumpet” has been sounded it is now your choice which path you follow.”
Remember my position with Yeshua is that of a “Watchmen” and it is my calling to bring warnings of future events which might put Yeshua’s children in peril. This is my anointing From Ezekiel 33:1-7 v.1 Again the word of the Lord came upon me, saying v2. Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them. When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the nation take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman. v3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blows the Trumpet and warns the people; v.4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet and taketh not warning. If the sword comes, and take him away his blood shall be upon his own head. v.5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and received not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
So in conclusion to my pre-amble, what it boils down to is the “Trumpet” has been sounded and the warning of future events given. Whether you believe and act on it is up to you. This notice is given to all to hear, however also has some very pertinent information for the modern day disciples.
This morning in a prolonged meditation the Holy Spirit lead me to Proverbs 22:1-5A GOOD name is preferable to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold. v2.the rich and poor meet together; the Lord is the maker of them all. v3. A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. v4. By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honor and life. v5.Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. v6. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. v7. The rich ruleth over the poor and the borrower is a servant to the lender. Take heed remember your choice of which path you follow is in your hands now. Once you go forward when you’re looking back at the events as they have unfolded check your thoughts as it was your decision based on the information you had at the time. God’s blessings. OPENING PRAYER by Robert Heavenly Father we thank thee for all the assistance you have provided as well as the warning of events to come. We ask for all to be strengthened and protected according to your word. Thank you, Father, for your patience and the lead time you have given all plus the wisdom to your disciples in preparation to go forward. We ask Father for you to strengthen them and protect them from any and all forms of evil. Lord we know many will rebuke your soldiers and their word, and there will be those who will try to deceive them. We ask you to fill their hearts and minds with your wisdom to discern those who are deceivers. We pray for their interior mirrors to be polished so your light will penetrate the dark shroud which covers this world today. Give them the words Father to draw those still deceived and lost to break down their barriers. This we pray in the name of Yeshua. Amen OPENING STATEMENT by Robert In my preamble, I stated my position which I have sounded the Trumpet as a warning. I ask all to check the facts shown, I pray you will discern what the prophet Joel warned the Israelites about which came true and is being repeated today as a warning to Yeshua’s current followers who will find it already in action around the world. The following is for Yeshua’s brethren receiving his teachings through the Holy Spirit. I am going to relate commentary from the KJV bible authors unknown. We will hear the Apostle Paul’s instructions in Romans 14:19-23 Many wish for peace, and talk loudly for it, who do not follow the things that make for peace. Meekness, humility, self-denial, and love, make for peace. We cannot edify one another while quarreling and contending. Many for meat and drink, destroy the work of God in themselves. Nothing more destroys the soul than pampering and pleasing the flesh, and fulfilling the lusts of it. So others are hurt, by wilful offense given. Lawful things may be done unlawfully, by giving offense to brethren. This takes in all indifferent things, whereby a brother is drawn into sin or trouble; or has his graces, his comforts, or his resolutions weakened. Hast thou faith? It is meant of knowledge and clearness as to our Christian liberty. Enjoy the comfort of it, but do not trouble others by a wrong use of it. I was then lead to 2Peter 1:1-4 and shown to share these exhortations v2. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, an of Yeshua our Lord. v3. According to his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. v4 Whereby is given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. We find further information coming from Matthew Henry (1662-1774) as he describes who the people are Peter’s epistle is written to. They are described in the former epistle as elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, and here as having obtained precious faith in our Lord Yeshua. For the faith here mentioned is vastly different from the false faith of the heretic, and the feigned faith of the hypocrite, and the fruitless faith of the formal professor, how orthodox soever he is. It is the faith of God’s elect (Titus 1:1), wrought by the Spirit of God in effectual calling. True faith is very excellent and of very high use and advantage to those who have it. The Just lives by faith, a truly divine spiritual life; faith procures all the necessary supports and comforts of this excellent life; faith goes to Yeshua and buys the wine and milk (Isaiah 55:1) which are the proper nourishment of the new creature. Faith acquires and brings home the tried gold, the heavenly treasure that enriches. Faith takes and puts on the white raiment, the royal robes that clothe and adorn (Rev.2:18) Faith is alike precious in the private believer and in the apostle. It produces the same precious effects in the one and in the other. Faith unites the weak believer to Yeshua as really as it does the strong one and purifies the heart of one as truly as of another. And every sincere believer is by faith-justified in the sight of God, and that from all sins (Acts 13:39). Faith, in whomsoever it exists, takes hold of the same precious Saviour and applies the same precious promises. This precious faith is obtained from God. Faith is the gift of God, wrought by the Spirit, who raised up Yeshua from the dead. The preciousness of faith, as well as our obtaining it, is through the righteousness of Yeshua. The satisfactory meritorious righteousness and obedience of Yeshua gives faith all its value and preciousness. And the righteousness of such a person cannot but be of infinite value to those who by faith receive it. So we have been given the answer to the warning Joel spoke about coveting the worldly pleasures we have become accustomed to. Raise your faith to learn how precious it is to you, know where it is coming from, know that it will sustain you through troubled times. Let go of your worldly beliefs that Silver and Gold is going to comfort and provide for you during the turmoil ahead, it won’t you can’t spend what you don’t have. Remember all is going to be stripped including our comforts and that which we trust was going to comfort us. And finally the Caterpillar. CLOSING STATEMENT by Robert We have been forwarned and given time to get our spiritual house in order assess our walk, but more than anything time to make a choice which is more precious than anything. God has seen fit to demonstrate His patience, allow us time to gather information discern it and use it to make a choice which will affect our walk as we approach passing into eternal life. Brothers and sisters, I believe we should not take any of this for granted and think we have tons of time because we don’t be wise gather your info discern and move forward. Begin practicing living with faith experience it become familiar with it, make it your walk. Truly and consciously letting go of what you believe is essential to your worldly and material comfort let go of the thoughts the things we think are essential to us, know in your heart if it goes it was only on loan anyway a momentary gift from God. I am not suggesting to sell everything or jettison material things which bring us comfort and ease of life. What I am saying consciously become aware that our real comfort comes from our faith and who provided us with that faith. Know in your heart you will not grieve the loss of material nor fight to keep it, as it is just material. When this loss occurs know you will see as a follower and true believer having precious faith be provided for more than abundantly as promised. The preciousness of faith, as well as our obtaining it, is through the righteousness of Yeshua. The satisfactory meritorious righteousness and obedience of Yeshua gives faith all its value and preciousness. And the righteousness of such a person cannot but be of infinite value to those who by faith receive it.Again I say be very careful of your choice knowing the truth as there will be many who will try to deceive you. CLOSING PRAYER By Robert The Holy Spirit lead me to Psalm 16:1-8 Preserve me O God: for in thee do I put my trust. v2. O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord my goodness extendeth not to thee. v3. But to saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all delight. v4. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. v5. The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup thou maintainest my lot. v6. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places, yea, I have a goodly heritage. v7. I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. v8. I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. This we pray in the name of Yeshua Amen.
For those who believe they are alone in life know this if you walk with our Father, he is with you all the time you are never alone you just need to call out to him and listen for his voice through the Holy Spirit. Take a moment to put life on pause hear what is around you on a spiritual level, we are more than our fleshly body, remember we were formed in His likeness which is in the Spirit as he is, learn to connect with God in the spirit which you are. The flesh is just a vessel housing our spirit while we journey through this life. Be at peace brothers and sisters in Yeshua. God’s speed in a beautiful day that our Lord has blessed us with. Remember I am just the messenger bringing what is provided by the Holy Spirit, what you do with it is up to you. May our Lord keep you in peace and His love. Robert
This warning was first released Dec. 31, 2015 and subsequently several times thereafter. The clouds deepened in their demeanor appearing more massive as temptations were making up the composition of the shadows. I could see they were dividing themselves into what seemed to be various categories almost like they were taking on a life of their own and then I realized what they actually were. The temptations were becoming more visible and appeared more appealing and majestic, their subtleties more evident however were alluring, enticing, inviting, and seductive, They were swirling and blending into the vapours of the cloud, becoming as one but not losing their appeal, identity or purpose. What I could see, was the identity of the temptations in their mingled state.
However, their identifiable functions were becoming less and less distinguishable, yet more appealing and acceptable. Keep in mind our enemy is spiritual as revealed in Ephesians 6:12, For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
FIRST TRUMPET: 1Corinthians 10: v.6 Now these things were our example, tothe intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. v.7 Neither be yeidolaters, as were some of them: as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. v.8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. v.9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them tempted and were destroyed of serpents. v.10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured and were destroyed of the destroyer.
The clouds continued to swirl deeper inward, and I could see there were many standing within these temptations, believing they were safe and untouchable by the attractions within. People were demonstrating an arrogance towards what was before them not recognizing their position and the consequences of their actions.
Deuteronomy 28:45, Moreover, all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
SECOND TRUMPET: 1Corinthians 10: v.12 Wherefore let him that thinketh hestandeth take heed lest he falls. As the clouds began to reveal the temptations Icould see no one was exempt from being touched and drawn into the appeal of the temptations. I saw there was a division developing among those within the clouds which was creating a scene of confusion and despair; causing many to reach out to those who appeared as leaders causing them to pull away from Yeshua their true Rock. In today’s society and the darkness which prevails the following wisdom is needed.
How many times have you been in a conversation about your walk and the individual you are speaking to just does not understand. This next pearl comes from (John 1:5) And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not. When our Lord’s light is shining through us and is seen, but whoever it attracts, we must discern whether they understand, why, our paths have crossed. I have always maintained, nobody comes into our lives by chance. They are lead there for a purpose we at that moment do not know why. But as we connect with them, the Lord reveals what that purpose may be. At that time we will see how long this individual will remain in our lives. It becomes our duty to recognize how much they are understanding and comprehending of what has occurred. Our conversation should be to bring knowledge to them as seeds so they may be sown into fertile soil to be harvested later as more comprehension is developed through our nurturing and guidance.
THIRD TRUMPET: 1Corinthians v. 13 There hath no temptation taken you butsuch as is common to men: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. v14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
When I read the scriptures, the leaders of the past were exceptional men and women filled with wisdom, knowledge and discernment able to answer the pressing questions of life at that time? Were they not able to speak with authority and charisma drawing the people to them? Were they not people of profound courage who were able to stand before the crowds without fear of persecution? I see these as the Salt, Yeshua speaks of. What of the second part of how Yeshua describes the Salt, is that how many see themselves, without savour, flat, useless and ready to be discarded and trodden on by the world. In your questions, this is what you are describing a Salt with no savour. A people filled with fear and doubt, afraid to step forward, declaring Yeshua as their Saviour.
CLOSING PRAYER by Robert My prayers go out to all who hear the Trumpeters Call I ask the Lord to bringdiscernment through the Holy Spirit, I pray that Yeshua will fill all with the spirit of courage knowledge and submission unto Him. This I pray in the name of Yeshua. Amen & Amen. God be with you in your tribulations.
Remember, these messages are given by a humble servant obedient to our Lord Yeshua as a Watchman. I pray for all. ”Our Heavenly Father brings us to the river which bringeth forth fruit so we may partake of its sustenance and be filled spiritually with nurturing wisdom, and humble dedication in service to Yeshua.” “Blessings to All.” “As you go forward in peace, knowledge, and strength.“ Robert

PRE-AMBLE by Robert
These articles like a puzzle bring together multiple bits and pieces of spiritual information, for all to use as assessments of where they stand in their personal relationship with our Father (God) and His Son (Yeshua). Interestingly enough as I have researched each article, I’m recognizing my life and walk are being affected as it should be. What I am researching now is showing me I have taken too much time concerning myself with the events occurring in this world both economically and politically. However, as our Lord put it in Matthew 6:27 and I know I am not alone in this, small stumble, because I have heard, “but it’s human, that you care about the things we are living with these days.” In answer, “Yeshua,” through the Holy Spirit gently pointed me to this: “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? V:27 “Very humbling!”
In this article, we will learn what Our Lord Yeshua meant by these words. We will be shown what our real walk with Him should be. But as well what lies ahead for those who do listen, learn, and walk in obedience to His teachings through the Holy Spirit. What lies ahead will assuredly bring disturbing information, but rightfully, needed to effect correction within our reasoning and our genuine commitment we recognize as Obedience. The Holy Spirit has some eye-opening soul-shaking lessons in store as we move forward in our walk on the narrow path.
OPENING PRAYER by Robert.
Heavenly Father reveal to us, what we need to understand to be in your presence now and in eternity. We know Lord the unrighteous shall not be there, explain to us Father our position in your eyes. We know Lord we are not to be deceived or commit grievous acts fornication, idolatries, or abuse of ourselves in any manner or those within our world and lives, nor should we be drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners. Bring us your divine knowledge so we might fight these temptations. Strengthen us Lord so we might walk in your light and your name. Share with us Father a deep spirit of seeking wisdom to acknowledge being obedient to your calling us to follow your laws. We pray this in your name Yeshua, Amen and Amen.
OPENING STATEMENT by Robert
There is scarcely any one sin against which our Lord Yeshua more largely and earnestly warned His disciples. Or against which he armed them with more variety of arguments than the sin of disquieting, distracting, and distrustful cares about the things of life, which are a bad sign, both the treasure and the heart are on worldly events.
We hear from John Gill (1697 – 1771) some pointed comments “Which of you by taking thought, As Yeshua argued before, from the unnecessariness of anxious thoughts and cares, about the provisions of life, so here, from the unprofitableness of them, it is impossible for a man, with all his care and thought, to add one cubit unto his stature. Or “to his age,” so the word is rendered (John 9:21) to the days of his life, he is so solicitous about.” Just a quick note hereaccording to (Misn. Erubim, c 4. sect. 5. & Negaim, c. 13. sect. 11. Bartenora) The stature of an ordinary man is three cubits. Taking into consideration this measure was first used in the 14th Century, it was based on the length of the forearm from the middle finger and usually equal to about 18 inches (46 Centimeters). [Merriam-Webster Dictionary].
The sense of the word is this, that no man, by all the care and thought he could make use of, is ever able to add one cubit or the least measure to his days, he cannot lengthen out his life one year, one month, one day, one hour, no, not one moment.
The commentary as mentioned earlier shows we should take no thought for our life. Not about the length of it; but refer it to God to lengthen or shorten as he pleases; recognize our times are in his hands, and in good hands they are. We should not fret about the comforts of this life, but leave it to God to make it bitter or sweet as he pleases.
It is here where there is a form of separation of those who are awakened in the spirit and those who remain idle and indifferent. When the Lord declared “The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand,” The Apostle Matthew reported; Yeshua went up into the mountain, “perhaps” for the purpose of selecting His audience, The idle and indifferent would stay down on the plain, only those who were in some measure stirred in spirit would follow Him. As Yeshua climbed the steep ascent from the shore of the lake to the plateau above and in their minds they would in all probability be revolving around such questions as these: 1).”What is this kingdom, what advantages does it offer, and who are the people that belong to it? 2). What is required of those that belong to it? What are its laws and obligations?” And if these two questions were answered satisfactorily, a third would naturally follow. 3). “How may those who desire to share its privileges and assume its obligations become citizens of it?” These accordingly, are the three great questions dealt with in succession.
In correlation with the three questions, we researched what Matthew Henry (1662 – 1774) had to say about obedience and how it affects our walk and well being and fits within the first question: Food and raiment God has promised. Therefore we may expect them. Take no thought for the morrow, for the time to come. Be not anxious for the future, how you shall live next year, or when you are old, or what you shall leave behind you. As we must not boast of tomorrow, so we must not care for tomorrow or the events of it. God has given us life and has given us the body. And what can he not do for us, who did that? If we take care of our souls and for eternity, which is more than the body and its life, we may leave it to God to provide for us food and clothing, which are less. Improve this as an encouragement to trust in God.
We must reconcile ourselves to our worldly condition, as we do to our stature. We cannot alter the disposals of Providence. Therefore we must submit and resign ourselves to them. Thoughtfulness for our souls is the best cure for the indulgence of worldly possessions. Seek first the kingdom of God, and make belief in Yeshua your business: say not this is the way to starve; no, it is the way to be well provided for, even in this world. The conclusion of the whole matter is, this is the will and command of our Lord Yeshua, by daily prayers, we will gain strength to lift us up under our daily travails and arm us against the temptations which accompany them, and then let none tempt us. Joyous are those who take the Lord for their God, and make the full witness of it through trusting themselves wholly to his wise disposal. Let your Spirit convince you of sin in the desire of this disposition, and remove the worldliness from your heart. I refer you back to the Article published September 13, 2018, “IS CONTENTMENT YOUR GAIN?” “Every sort of wickedness and vice, in one way or another, grows from the love of money.”
Through his commentary Matthew Henry (1662 – 1774) reveals what to be wary of: Our Lord next warned against hypocrisy and outward show in religious duties. What we do, must be done from an inward principle, that we may be approved of God, not that we may be praised by men. In these verses, we are cautioned against hypocrisy in giving alms. Take heed of it. It is a subtle sin; and vain-glory creeps into what we do, before we are aware. But the duty is not the less necessary and excellent for being abused by hypocrites to serve their pride. The doom Yeshua passes, at first, may seem a promise, but it is their reward; not the reward God promises to those who do good, but the reward hypocrites promise themselves, and a poor reward it is; they did it to be seen of men, and they are seen of men. When we take the least notice of our good deeds ourselves, God takes most notice of them. He will reward thee; not as a master who gives his servant what he earns, and no more, but as a Father who gives abundantly to his son that serves him.
It is taken for granted that all who are disciples of Christ pray. You may as soon find a living man that does not breathe, as a living Believer who does not pray. If prayerless, then graceless. The Scribes and Pharisees were guilty of two great faults in prayer, vain-glory, and vain repetitions. “Verily they have their reward;” if in so great a matter as is between God and us, when we are at prayer, we can look to so poor a thing as the praise of men, it is just that it should be all our reward.
Matthew Henry (1662 – 1774) relates: “Yet there is not a secret, sudden breathing after God, but he observes it. It is called a reward, but it is of grace, not of debt; what merit can there be in begging? If he does not give his people what they ask, it is because he knows they do not need it, and that it is not for their good. So far is God from being wrought upon by the length or words of our prayers, that the most powerful intercessions are those which are made with groanings that cannot be uttered. Let us well study what is shown of the frame of mind in which our prayers should be offered, and learn daily from Christ how to pray.”
Worldly-mindedness is a common and fatal symptom of hypocrisy, for by no sin can Satan have a surer and faster hold of the soul, under the cloak of a profession of religion. Something the soul will have, which it looks upon as the best thing; in which it has pleasure and confidence above other things. Christ counsels to make our best things the joys and glories of the other world, those things not seen which are eternal, and to place our happiness in them. There are treasures in heaven. It is our wisdom to give all diligence to make our title to eternal life sure through Yeshua, and to look on all things here below, as not worthy to be compared with it, and to be content with nothing short of it. It is happiness above and beyond the changes and chances of time, an inheritance incorruptible. The worldly man is wrong in his first principle; therefore all his reasonings and actions from that place must be faulty. It is equally to be applied to false religion; that which is deemed light is thick darkness. This is awful, but a typical case; we should therefore carefully examine our leading principles by the word of God, with earnest prayer for the teaching of his Spirit. A man may do some service to two masters, but he can devote himself to the service of no more than one. God requires the whole heart, and will not share it with the world. When two masters oppose each other, no man can serve both. He who holds to the world and loves it must despise God; he who loves God must give up the friendship of the world.
Matthew Henry (1662 – 1774) encourages us to pray and states how we should approach it: Prayer is the appointed means for obtaining what we need. Pray; pray often; make a business of prayer, and be serious and earnest in it. Ask, as a beggar asks alms. Ask, as a traveler asks the way. Seek, as for a thing of value that we have lost; or as the merchantman that seeks goodly pearls. Knock, as he that desires to enter into the house knocks at the door. Sin has shut and barred the door against us; by prayer, we knock. Whatever you pray for, according to the promise, shall be given you, if God sees it fit for you, and what would you have more? This is made to apply to all that pray aright; every one that asketh receiveth, whether Jew or Gentile, young or old, rich or poor, high or low, master or servant, learned or unlearned, all are alike welcome to the throne of grace, if they come in faith. It is explained by a comparison taken from earthly parents, and their readiness to give their children what they ask. Parents are often foolishly fond, but God is all-wise; he knows what we need, what we desire, and what is fit for us. Let us never suppose our heavenly Father would bid us pray, and then refuse to hear, or give us what would be hurtful.
Nothing so much prevents men from entering the strait gate, and becoming true followers of Yeshua, as the carnal, soothing, flattering doctrines of those who oppose the truth. They may be known by the drift and effects of their theories. Some part of their temper and conduct is contrary to the mind of Christ. Those opinions come not from God that lead to sin.
CLOSING STATEMENT by Robert
I don’t think it could be any clearer what we are able to gain through true faith. What I am taking away from this research on a personal level is the following three things “ASK,” “SEEK,” “KNOCK.” Yeshua knocks at our door (Rev.3:20, Song of Solomon 5:2) and allows us to knock at His, which is a favor we do not allow common beggars. What I am seeing is seeking and knocking imply something more than asking and praying. We must not only ask but seek, we must second our prayers with our endeavors we must, in the use of the appointed means, seek for that which we ask for, else we tempt God.
God gives knowledge and grace to those that search the scriptures, and wait at Wisdom’s gates and power against sin. We must not only ask but knock we must come to God’s door, must ask importunately not only pray but plead and wrestle with God we must seek diligently we must continue knocking must persevere in prayer, and in the use of means must endure to the end in the duty. The precept is threefold, ask, seek, knock there is precept upon precept, but the promise is sixfold, line upon line for our encouragement because a firm belief of the promise would make us cheerful and constant in our obedience.
CLOSING PRAYER by Robert
Heavenly Father we are so thankful Lord for your promise to hear our prayer and answer according to your will. You told us Lord ask and you shall receive, you ask us to seek, and we shall find. We have sought you Lord and found you each time and give praise for you being there Father. You tell us to knock, and the door will be opened the door of mercy and grace thank you Lord for those gifts. We thank you, Father, for all things promised and received through faith. This we Pray in the name of Yeshua, Amen, and Amen.
Remember these messages come from an obedient, “Watchmen” sounding the horn about an evil. We come to God as children to a Father in Heaven, with reverence and confidence. How naturally does a child in want or distress run to the Father with its complaints? Thus should the new nature send us to God for supports and supplies.
May our Father bless and keep you well as our journey continues.
