SCRIPTURAL FOUNDATION!

1John 5:4
[4]For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

[3]Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

OBSERVATION!

Faith is the cause of victory, the means, the instrument, the spiritual armour and artillery by which we overcome; for, (1) In and by faith we cleave to Christ, in contempt of, and opposition to, the world.

So I ponder this thought if we have contempt for the world and say we cleave to Yeshua. Then why do so many so-called believers still depend on and cleave to the world’s wisdom while claiming to love and serve Yeshua. Even though we continue in the flesh, we really are not citizens of the world and thus should not be dependent or cleaving to the world’s universal laws in health and commerce.

(2) Faith works in and by love to God and Christ, and so withdraws us from the love of the world.

Then explain why so many who profess to possess faith, still cling to worldly devices as the resolution to daily and long-term  trials. What does this speak about their faith and where it is being exercised and with who!

1 Kings 18:21 KJV
And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

(3) Faith sanctifies the heart and purifies it from those sensual lusts by which the world obtains such sway and dominion over souls.

I again ponder on those who profess their faith yet suffer all the ills, tribulations, and temptations, which true faith is designed to remove as the ills of life?

1 John 2:15
[15]Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

My question is, why are those who claim faith and profess to trust in Yeshua’s promises, still suffering what is claimed to have been removed!  Psalms 91:9-10
[9]Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
[10]There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

(4) Faith receives and derives strength from the object of it, the Son of God, for conquering the frowns and flatteries of the world.

So it becomes a challenge for those claming faith, to face a choice, a walk in comfort, that the world offers fraught with its trials, tribulations and temptations.

Or a walk with our Lord filled with victories over all the trials, tribulations, and temptations the world presents!

Psalms 91:11-12
[11]For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
[12]They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

(5) It obtains by gospel promise a right to the indwelling Spirit of grace, that is greater than he who dwells in the world

Proverbs 12:2
[2]A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

(6) It sees an invisible world at hand, with which this world is not worthy to be compared, and into which it tells the soul in which it resides it must be continually prepared to enter; and thereupon.

Romans 12:2
[2]And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 1 John 5:5
[5]Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

COMMENTARY!

It is the world that lies in our way to heaven and is the great impediment to our entrance there. But he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God believes therein that Jesus Came from God to be the Saviour of the world, and powerfully conduct us from the world to heaven, and to God, who is fully to be enjoyed there.

And he who so believes must needs by this faith overcome the world.

For, 1. He must be well satisfied that this world is a vehement enemy to his soul, to his holiness, his salvation, and his blessedness.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world, 1 John 2:16

2. He sees it must be a great part of the Savior’s work and of his own salvation to be redeemed and rescued from this malignant world.

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, Galatians 1:4

3. He sees in and by the life and conduct of the Lord Jesus on earth that this world is to be renounced and overcome 1 Peter 1:14
[14]As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

4. He perceives that the Lord Jesus conquered the world, not for himself only, but for his followers; and they must study to be partakers of his victory. Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world

Ephesians 5:10-12
[10]Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
[11]And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
[12]For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

5. He is taught and influenced by the Lord Jesus’s death to be mortified and crucified to the world. God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me, and I unto the world, Galatians 6:14,15,16.

6. He is begotten by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to the lively hope of a blessed world above, 1 Peter 1:3

7. He knows that the Saviour has gone to heaven, and is there preparing a place for his serious believers, John 14:2

8. He knows that his Saviour will come again thence, and will put an end to this world, and judge the inhabitants of it, and receive his believers to his presence and glory, John 14:3

9. He is possessed with a spirit and disposition that cannot be satisfied with this world, that look beyond it, and are still tending, striving, and pressing towards the world in heaven. In this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house, which is from heaven, 2 Corinthians 5:2.

So that it is the Christian walk that affords its proselytes a universal empire. It is the Christian revelation that is the great means of conquering the world and gaining another that is most pure and peaceful, blessed and eternal.

It is there, in that revelation, that we see what the occasion and ground of the quarrel and contest between the holy God and this rebellious world.

OBSERVATION!

For those who walk contrary to the light of life ( Yeshua) and maintain a presence with the world the following is what you are actually missing in your walk, because you lack faith and trust in Yeshua’s promises!

2 John 1:3
[3]Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

COMMENTARY

John 1:3. Sacred love pours out blessings upon this honourable Christian family; to those who have shall more be given. Observe, 1. From whom these blessings are craved,

(1) From God the Father, the God of all grace. He is the fountain of blessedness and of all the blessings that must bring us thither

(2) From the Lord Jesus Christ. He is also author and communicator of these heavenly blessings, and he is distinguished by this emphatic character – the Son of the Father; such a Son as none else can be; such a Son as is the brightness of the Father’s glory, and the express image of his person, who, with the Father, is also eternal life, 1 John 1:2.

OBSERVATION!

I ponder this thought! We are given a free will to choose our path into eternity and time to also choose whose wisdom we will follow in order to acquire the knowledge, understanding, and spiritual wisdom of how to spiritually live and present ourselves to our Heavenly Father Yahweh and his Son Yeshua when we are finally in their Heavenly presence! Will it be based on carnal wisdom or based on the teachings of the Holy Spirit of how to live with and in faith and trust while we finished our journey through the time Yahweh alotted for us to do so!

Or did we turn unto the wisdom of the world to extend our journey carnally while professing faith and trust in Yeshua’s promises, but seeking the worlds wisdom and feigning the acceptance of the Holy Spirit’s teachings on how to perform spiritually before our Heavenly Father Yahweh and his Son Yeshua.
