SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION!
Luke 22:34
I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
OBSERVATION!
Peter’s statement shows what his soul was telling him about his relationship with Yeshua.
On the way to eternal happiness, we must expect to be assaulted and sifted by Satan. If he cannot destroy it, he will try to disgrace or distress us.
Nothing more certainly forebodes a fall, in a professed follower of Christ, than self-confidence, with disregard to warnings, and contempt of danger. (Complacent Pride)
Satan has no greater pleasure than humbling any believer who sees himself through the same eyes Peter did when he declared his position.
It appears Peter forgot to factor in he was a man and like all men. He was about to face a devastating trial that could possibly mean his demise. Bravery is a part of our dedication to those we deem close and is very much alive in our minds until we are actually faced with a devastating threat.
Not one of us knows how we will react until we actually are faced with our possible demise. In our hearts and minds, we desire to believe we will be strong, which is our hope.
The best example I can site is exampled in Matthew 14:28-30 KJV
And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. [29] And he said, Come. And when Peter came down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. [30] But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
Peter’s courage and faith allowed him to overcome the natural forces of the world, and like Yeshua was walking on water. However, when faced with future turbulence and possible demise, he doubted his ability to overcome and sank.
COMMENTARY!
Matthew 26:34 KJV
Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
Improper self-confidence, like that of Peter, is the first step to a fall. There is a proneness in all of us to be over-confident. But those fall soonest and foulest, who are the most confident in themselves. Those are least safe, who think themselves most secure.
Satan is active to lead such astray; they are most off their guard: God leaves them to themselves, to humble them.
OBSERVATION!
It is common to be more eager to know about secret things, which belong to God only, than about things revealed, which belong to us and our children; to be more desirous to have our curiosity gratified, than our consciences directed; to know what is done in heaven, than what we may do to get there.
COMMENTARY!
We must be established in the belief of the truth, that we may not be shaken by every wind of doctrine; and especially in the truth necessary for us to know in our day, what belongs to our peace, and what is opposed in our time.
The body is but a tabernacle, or tent, of the soul. It is a mean and movable dwelling. The nearness of death makes the apostle diligent in the business of life.
Nothing can so give composure in the prospect, or in the hour, of death, as to know that we have faithfully and simply followed the Lord Jesus, and sought his glory.
CLOSING COMMENTARY!
2 Peter 1:16
[16]For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
How firm and sure should our faith be, who have such a firm and sure word to rest upon! When the light of the Scripture is darted into the blind mind and dark understanding, by the Holy Spirit of God, it is like the day-break that advances, and diffuses itself through the whole soul, till it makes perfect day. As the Scripture is the revelation of the mind and will of God, every man ought to search it, to understand the sense and meaning.
CLOSING OBSERVATION!
So that the Scriptures are to be accounted the words of the Holy Ghost, and all the plainness and simplicity, all the power and all the propriety of the words and expressions, come from God. Mix faith with what you find in the Scriptures, and esteem and reverence the Bible as a book written by holy men, taught by the Holy Ghost.

[10]Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Robert a humble obedient servant to Yeshua and his Father in heaven Yahewa. And all of God’s children say Amen and Amen
