PRELUDE: It is my desire to bring forward this information. Please note that the Commentary offered are quotes by Matthew Henry.
The Observations offered are from Robert offering his commentary as Yeshua’s obedient servant, a Watchman (Ezekiel 33:9).
AN APPEAL TO THE ECCLESIA!

SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION!
Matthew 4:16 KJV
The people who sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
OBSERVATION!
How many who today claim Yeshua as their savior understand, in doing so, became a part of the light spoken of in this verse.
Many will say this verse is relating to Yeshua coming into the world, and they are spot on. However, like many have not discerned, our actions of repentance and turning from the world and sin brought Yeshua’s light into our lives through Yeshua’s act of salvation and our acceptance.
2 Corinthians 4:6 KJV
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
COMMENTARY!
Sincerity or uprightness will keep the favorable opinion of wise and good men. Christ, by his gospel, makes a glorious discovery to the minds of men.
But the design of the devil is, to keep men in ignorance; and when he cannot keep the light of the gospel of Christ out of the world, he spares no pains to keep men from the gospel, or to set them against it.
The rejection of the gospel is here traced to the wilful blindness and wickedness of the human heart. Self was not the matter or the end of the apostles’ preaching; they preached Christ as Jesus, the Savior and Deliverer, who saves to the uttermost all that come to God through him.
OBSERVATION!
There is another piece of information, which is important to note, as instruments of Yeshua, our vessels being a habitation for Yeshua we begin shining his light into the world.”
As we grow in the word and deepen our relationship with Yeshua, our light becomes stronger, brighter, and penetrating deeper into the darkness of this world, it becomes our outwardly demonstration of our uniqness and separation from the customs and traditions of the world it signifies we are different and at peace, and in doing so attracts more of the lost out of Satan’s slavery grasp and sin filled lives.
COMMENTARY!
Gods children are servants to the souls of men; they must avoid becoming servants to the humours or the lusts of men. It is pleasant to behold the sun in the firmament; but it is more pleasant and profitable for the gospel to shine in the heart.
As light was the beginning of the first creation; so, in the new creation, the light of the Spirit is his first work upon the soul. The treasure of gospel light and grace is put into earthen vessels.
The disciples of the gospel are subject to the same passions and weaknesses as other men. God could have sent angels to make known the glorious doctrine of the gospel, or could have sent the most admired sons of men to teach the nations, but he chose humbler, weaker vessels, that his power might be more glorified in upholding them, and in the blessed change wrought by their ministry as a result of Yeshua’s light shining forth through them.
OBSERVATION!
2 Corinthians 4:4,6-7
[4]In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
[6]For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
[7]But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
Disciples must share the whole counsel of God. Those in the world will not know of the fear and trembling of faithful servants because they know their own weakness.
They know how insufficient they are and become fearful for themselves. However, when nothing but Christ crucified is plainly preached, these moments of despair disappear as our lord brings forward the success of placing Yeshua’s light in the hearts of the lost. This action must be recognized as coming entirely from the divine power accompanying the word, and thus men are brought to believe, in the salvation of their souls.
CLOSING COMMENTARY!
Christ, in his person, and offices, and sufferings, is the sum and substance of the gospel, and ought to be the great subject of a gospel minister’s preaching, but not so as to leave out other parts of God’s revealed truth and will.
CLOSING OBSERVATION!
Christ, reconciling the world to God by the merit of his death, broke the power of death, and cast out Satan as a destroyer.
Christ, bringing the world to God by the doctrine of his cross, broke the power of sin and cast out Satan as a deceiver.
The soul that was at a distance from Christ is brought to love him and trust him. Jesus was now going to heaven, and he would draw men’s hearts to him thither.
There is power in the death of Christ to draw souls to him. We have heard from the gospel that which exalts free grace, and we have also heard that which enjoins duty; we must from the heart embrace both and not separate them.

2 Corinthians 4:6 KJV
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Robert a humble obedient servant to Yeshua and his Father in heaven Yahewa. And all of God’s children say Amen and Amen.
