“ARE YOU LETTING THE WORLD STEAL WHAT PRAYER OFFERS?”

SCRIPTURAL FOUNDATION!

Philippians 4:6-7
[6]Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
[7]And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

OBSERVATION!

When I suggested, I wanted to bring the need to God. I was rebuked and told at least that going to the world, I can offer food and clothing right now, so why not?

What is it that causes believers not to bring everything to Yahewa  through prayer? Is it the fear that for Yahewa to answer our prayer? There must be a change of lifestyle as a more fervent walk bringing us closer to Yeshua, our interceder and provider.

The way to have the God of peace with us is to keep close to our duty. All our privileges and salvation arise in the free mercy of God; yet the enjoyment of them depends on our sincere and holy conduct. These are works of God pertaining to God, and to him only are they to be ascribed, and to no other, neither men, words, nor deeds.

COMMENTARY!

Let us seek to give assurance that our names are written in the book of life. Joy in God is of great consequence in the Christian life; and believers need to be again and again called to it.

It more than outweighs all causes for sorrow. Let their enemies perceive how moderate they were as to outward things and how composedly they suffered loss and hardships.

The day of judgment will soon arrive, with full redemption to believers and destruction to ungodly men. There is a care of diligence which is our duty, and agrees with a wise forecast and due concern; but there is a care of fear and distrust, which is sin and folly, and only perplexes and distracts the mind.

As a remedy against perplexing care, constant prayer is recommended. Not only stated times for prayer, but in everything by prayer. We must join thanksgivings with prayers and supplications; not only seek supplies of good, but own the mercies we have received.

God needs not to be told our wants or desires; he knows them better than we do; but he will have us show that we value the mercy and feel our dependence on him. The peace of God, the comfortable sense of being reconciled to God, and having a part in his favour, and the hope of the heavenly blessedness, are a greater good than can be fully expressed.

This peace will keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus; it will keep us from sinning under troubles and from sinking under them; keep us calm and with inward satisfaction.

Believers are to get and to keep a good name; a name for good things with God and good men. We should walk in all the ways of virtue and abide therein; then, whether our praise is of men or not, it will be of God.

Christ largely insisted upon this caution not to give way to disquieting, perplexing cares, Matthew 6:25-34.

CLOSING COMMENTARY

The arguments here used are for our encouragement to cast our care upon God, which is the right way to get ease. As in our stature, so in our state, it is our wisdom to take it as it is.

An eager, anxious pursuit of the things of this world, even necessary things, ill becomes the disciples of Christ. Fears must not prevail; when we frighten ourselves with thoughts of evil to come, and put ourselves upon needless cares how to avoid it. If we value the beauty of holiness, we shall not crave the luxuries of life.

Let us then examine whether we belong to this little flock. Christ is our Master, and we are his servants; not only working servants but waiting servants. We must be as men that wait for their lord, that sit up while he stays out late, to be ready to receive him.

Where God gives grace to be humble, he will give wisdom, faith, and holiness. To be humble and subject to our reconciled God will bring greater comfort to the soul than the gratification of pride and ambition.

But it is to be in due time; not in thy fancied time, but God’s own wisely appointed time. Does he wait, and wilt not thou? What difficulties will not the firm belief of his wisdom, power, and goodness get over!

Then, be humble under his hand. Cast “all you care;” personal cares, family cares, cares for the present, and cares for the future, for yourselves, for others, for the church, on God. These are burdensome and often very sinful when they arise from unbelief and distrust, when they torture and distract the mind, unfit us for duties, and hinder our delight in the service of God.

The remedy is to cast our care upon God and leave every event to his wise and gracious disposal.

Matthew 6:25
[25]Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Firm belief that the Divine will and counsels are right, calms the spirit of a man.

Matthew 6:27
[27]Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

Truly, the godly too often forget this, and fret themselves to no purpose. Refer all to God’s disposal.

Matthew 6:31,34
[31]Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
[34]Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Psalms 91:4
[4]He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Robert a humble obedient servant to Yeshua and his Father in heaven Yahewa. And all of God’s children say Amen and Amen.
