WHAT PRICE HAVE YOU SET FOR YOUR SOUL? “HAVE YOU LOOKED YET?”

SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION!

Luke 9:23 KJV
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

OBSERVATION!

Has it occurred to you yet that Yahewa is calling His children  to stand before a spiritual mirror daily. That in doing so, you will find the areas needing your attention and corresponding actions. The question now, being most predominately present, should be “WHY SHOULD I REFLECT DAILY”?

COMMENTARY!

Christ is a plain doctrine. It is brought before the mind and heart of everyone, thus leaving no one without excuse for unbelief. If a man confessed faith in Jesus, as the Lord and Saviour of lost sinners, and really believed in his heart that God had raised him from the dead, thus showing that he had accepted the atonement, he should be saved by the righteousness of Christ, imputed to him through faith.

But no faith is justifying, which is not powerful in sanctifying the heart and regulating all its affections by the love of Christ.

OBSERVATION!

We must devote and give up to God our souls and our bodies: our souls in believing with the heart, and our bodies in confessing with the mouth. The believer shall never have cause to repent his confident trust in the Lord Jesus. Of such faith no sinner shall be ashamed before God; and he ought to glory in it before men.

COMMENTARY!

When God calls us to speak for him, we may depend on him to teach us what to say. A believing prospect of the end of our troubles, will be of great use to support us under them. They may be borne to the end, because the sufferers shall be borne up under them. The strength shall be according to the day. And it is great encouragement to those who are doing Christ’s work, that it is a work which shall certainly be done.

OBSERVATION!

See how the care of Providence extends to all creatures, even to the sparrows. This should silence all the fears of God’s people; Ye are of more value than many sparrows. And the very hairs of your head are all numbered. This denotes the account God takes and keeps of his people. It is our duty, not only to believe in Christ, but to profess that faith, in suffering for him, when we are called to it, as well as in serving him. That denial of Christ only is here meant which is persisted in, and that confession only can have the blessed recompence here promised, which is the real and constant language of faith and love.

COMMENTARY!

Frequent notice is taken of the great flocking there was to Christ for help in various cases. All are concerned to know this if they expect him to heal their souls.

They must not indulge in the callings of the body. As the happiness of heaven with Christ, is enough to make up for the loss of life itself for him, so the gain of all the world in sin, will not make up for the ruin of the soul by sin.

And there is a day coming when the cause of Christ will appear as glorious, as some now think it mean and contemptible. May we think of that season and view every earthly object as we shall do at that great day.

CLOSING OBSERVATION!

A true disciple of Christ is one that does follow him in duty and shall follow him to glory. He is one that walks in the same way Christ walked in, is led by his Spirit, and treads in his steps, whithersoever he goes “Let him deny himself” If self-denial be a hard lesson, it is no more than what our Master learned and practised, to redeem us, and to teach us “Let him take up his cross” The cross is here put for every trouble that befalls us.

We are apt to think we could bear another’s cross better than our own; but that is best which is appointed us, and we ought to make the best of it. We must not by our rashness and folly pull crosses down upon our own heads, but must take them up when they are in our way.

If any man will have the name and credit of a disciple, let him follow Christ in the work and duty of a disciple.

If all worldly things are worthless when compared with the life of the body, how forcible the same argument with respect to the soul and its state of never-ending happiness or misery! Thousands lose their souls for the most trifling gain, or the most worthless indulgence, nay, often from mere sloth and negligence.

Whatever is the object for which men forsake Christ, that is the price at which Satan buys their souls. Yet one soul is worth more than all the world. This is Christ’s judgment upon the matter; he knew the price of souls, for he redeemed them; nor would he underrate the world, for he made it.

What price have you set for your soul? Ponder that question when daily reflecting on your walk and relationship. At first, you may not like what you find. That is WHY our Father in heaven wants us to daily look!

Matthew 16:25
[25]For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Robert a humble obedient servant to Yeshua and his Father in heaven Yahewa. And all of God’s children say Amen and Amen!
