SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION!
Matthew 17:20 KJV
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
OBSERVATION!
Day after day I receive a request to pray for me. And when I query what I am praying for, because I will not pray blind, I receive these requests on equal basis. I need money, or I am stressed out and need answers.
Here is my answer to those desiring God to pay for their worldly indiscretions, not going to happen. Our Heavenly Father is not a 7/11 convenience Deity we can call on when we have strayed from his guidance and end up in distress to the world, because of our lack of faith and obsession to snatch back control of our lives and mess up because we are impatient or succumb to a luxury sin we lusted after. And then I hear I am poor and need assistance. https://romboughrobert.ca/2024/01/20/whose-standards-do-you-measure-your-lifes-status-by-is-it-worldly-in-part-or-fully-heavenly-3/
As stated in the article “Question how can anyone who our Lord considers as Royal, holy, and peculiar consider themselves as being poor. destitute, or without value?”
For those who say they have Yeshua as their saviour yet believe they are without, obviously have not separated from the world’s standards. And hold not his truth in their hearts.
Matthew 6:25 KJV
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
And for those who worry or fret over situations out of their control and end up in fear because they cannot find an answer. Our peace is found in 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
COMMENTARY!
It is good for us to distrust ourselves and our own strength; but it is displeasing to Christ when we distrust any power derived from him, or granted by him.
There was also something in the malady that rendered the cure difficult. The extraordinary power of Satan must not discourage our faith, but quicken us to more earnestness in praying to God for the increase of it. Do we wonder to see Satan’s bodily possession of this young man from a child, when we see his spiritual possession of every son of Adam from the fall!
Acts 26:18 KJV
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
OBSERVATION!
The case of afflicted children should be presented to God by faithful and fervent prayer. Christ cured the child. Though the people were perverse, and Christ was provoked, yet care was taken of the child. When all other helps and succours fail, we are welcome to Christ, may trust in him, and in his power and goodness. See here an emblem of Christ’s undertaking as our Redeemer.
John 14:6 KJV
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
COMMENTARY!
It encourages parents to bring children to Christ, whose souls are under Satan’s power; he is able to heal them, and as willing as he is able. Not only bring them to Christ by prayer, but bring them to the word of Christ; to means by which Satan’s strong-holds in the soul are beaten down.
Ephesians 6:4 KJV
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
OBSERVATION!
We should rest in no religion that does not make us fruitful in good works. Christ taught them from hence to pray in faith. It may be applied to that mighty faith with which all true Christians are endued and which does wonders in spiritual things.
It justifies us and so removes mountains of guilt, never to rise up in judgment against us. It purifies the heart, and so removes mountains of corruption and makes them plain before the grace of God.
One great errand to the throne of grace is to pray for the pardon of our sins; and care about this ought to be our daily concern.
Matthew 6:6 KJV
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
COMMENTARY!
Matthew 21:19 KJV
And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
The cursing of the barren fig-tree represents the state of hypocrites in general, and so teaches us that Christ looks for the power of religion in those who profess it, and the savour of it from those that have the show of it. https://romboughrobert.ca/2024/01/23/if-i-answer-your-call-in-nievety-as-you-seek-i-would-become-a-hypocrite/
His just expectations from flourishing professors are often disappointed; he comes to many, seeking fruit, and finds leaves only. A false profession commonly withers in this world, and it is the effect of Christ’s curse. The fig-tree that had no fruit, soon lost its leaves.
Matthew 15:8-9
[8]This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
[9]But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
COMMENTARY!
Faith in God’s pardoning mercy, will enable us to get over the greatest difficulties in the way of forgiving our brethren. As with God nothing is impossible, so all things are possible to him that can believe. Our Lord showed his disciples their need of deep humility.
The Lord has such a property in every creature, as no man can have in another; he cannot be in debt to them for their services, nor do they deserve any return from him.
OBSERVATION!
If we have any knowledge of the truth or any power to make it known, we must give all the glory to God.
The greater the gifts are, the more the possessor is exposed to temptations, and the larger is the measure of grace needed to keep him humble and spiritual; and he will meet with more painful experiences and humbling dispensations. We have little cause to glory in any gifts bestowed on us, or to despise those who do not have them.
CLOSING COMMENTARY!
It is common with people not to apply to Christ till they have tried in vain all other helpers, and find them, as certainly they will, physicians of no value. Some run to diversions and gay company; others plunge into business, or even into intemperance; others go about to establish their own righteousness, or torment themselves by vain superstitions.
Many perish in these ways; but none will ever find rest to the soul by such devices; while those whom Christ heals of the disease of sin, find in themselves an entire change for the better.

Robert a humble obedient servant to Yeshua and his Father in heaven Yahewa. And all of God’s children say Amen and Amen.
