SCRIPTURAL FOUNDATION!
Acts 17:23 KJV
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
OUR PRAYER!
Heavenly Father, I hear horns in heaven heralding your greatness, Father, sounding out your Holy reverence. Music not of the world but of heaven so majestic it is beyond our human minds, soothing, uplifting and identifying your diety. Lord, we humble ourselves before your throne prostrating before you Father desiring to have you continually searching our hearts, Lord. So we might know our position within our personal relationship with you, Yeshua. We plead for you to measure our dedication, devotion, and loyalty. If you find it falling short, Lord, reveal those areas we need to strengthen to continue as your servant. This we pray in the name of Yeshua and all of God’s children say Amen and Amen.
COMMENTARY!
Paul spoke of an altar he had seen, with the inscription, “TO THE UNKNOWN GOD” This fact is stated by many writers. After multiplying their idols to the utmost, some at Athens thought there was another god of whom they had no knowledge. And do we not today have many now claiming Christianity, who are zealous in their devotions, yet the great object to them of their worship is an unknown God?
Observe what glorious things Paul here says of that God whom he served and would have them to serve. The Lord had long borne with idolatry, but the times of this ignorance were now ending, and by his servants, he now commanded all men everywhere to repent of their idolatry.
Each sect of the learned men would feel themselves powerfully affected by the apostle’s discourse, which tended to show the emptiness or falsity of their doctrines.
We have a cunning adversary who watches to do mischief, and will promote errors, even by the words of Scripture. Whatever uncertainty we are in, or whatever mistakes may arise about the time of Christ’s coming, that coming itself is certain. This has been the faith and hope of all Christians, in all ages of the church; it was the faith and hope of the Old Testament saints. All believers shall be gathered together to Christ, to be with him, and to be happy in his presence forever.
False doctrines are like the winds that toss the water to and fro; and they unsettle the minds of men, which are as unstable as water. It is enough for us to know that our Lord will come and gather all his saints unto him.
A reason why they should not expect the coming of Christ, as at hand, is given. There would be a general falling away first, such as would occasion the rise of antichrist, that man of sin. There have been great disputes who or what is intended by this man of sin and son of perdition.
The man of sin not only practises wickedness, but also promotes and commands sin and wickedness in others; and is the son of perdition, because he is devoted to certain destruction, and is the instrument to destroy many others, both in soul and body.
As God was in the temple of old, and worshipped there, and is in and with his church now; so the antichrist here mentioned, is a usurper of God’s authority in the Christian church, who claims Divine honours.
The whole plan of Divine Providence is arranged with a view to the good of the people of God. A settlement in the land of promise is of God’s mercy. Let the church receive those whom God receives. God’s people, wherever their lot is cast, should endeavor to recommend religion by a right and winning conversation. Those that would not be reconciled to them, should be humbled by them.
This may be applied to the success of the gospel, when those were brought to obey it who had opposed it. God himself undertakes to work a blessed change. They shall have rest from their sorrow and fear, the sense of their present burdens, and the dread of worse.

Robert a humble obedient servant to Yeshua and his Father in heaven Yahewa.
